IN THE
STUDIO
How do I book a session?
Write to us through the contact form, at info@studiovirus.com or on +39 0577 318843. Tell us what you want to record, who is playing and your preferred dates: we reply within 24 hours, in English or Italian.
How much does a studio session cost?
It depends on the project: how many days, how many musicians, whether you need production or just recording. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll send you a clear quote, with nothing hidden.
What’s the difference between Studio A and Studio B?
Studio A is where full productions happen: a large control room, a live room for bands, ensembles and acoustic sessions, and a Tascam ATR-80 2″ 24-track for tape sessions. Studio B is Jacopo Pettini’s room, built for focused sessions: overdubs, vocals, guitars, arrangement and mixing. Same standard in both. See the studios.
Can we record to tape?
Yes. Studio A has a Tascam ATR-80 2″ 24-track for tape sessions, alongside Pro Tools and Cubase.
Is there a grand piano?
Grand pianos are available on request through our piano rental partner. Let us know when you book, so we can arrange it for your dates.
Do you also produce and arrange?
Yes. Artistic production and arrangement, from the first idea to the finished record: song development, artistic direction, session musicians, sound design and orchestration.
Can you record outside the studio?
Yes: concerts, theatre productions, classical ensembles and production sound on film and video shoots. Recording on location.
Where are you, and how do I get there?
Via Franco Ferrini 40, San Martino – La Tognazza, Monteriggioni (SI): 3–5 minutes from Siena and about 50 minutes from Florence. From the Florence–Siena motorway, take the Siena Nord exit and follow the Cassia towards San Martino – La Tognazza. Open in Google Maps.
Do you work in English?
Yes. We work in English and Italian, with artists in the studio and remotely.
ONLINE
MIX &
MASTER
What’s the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing balances and shapes all the individual tracks into one cohesive song. Mastering takes that finished mix and optimizes it for release: level, tonal balance and consistency across formats. Most projects need both.
How much does it cost?
Mastering from €50 per track, mix + master from €250 per song, albums on a custom quote. Prices are final, with no hidden costs. See prices and what’s included.
How do I send my files?
Upload your stems via WeTransfer after booking. Mix + Master sessions handle up to 48 stems. We’ll send simple guidance on how to export and label them.
How many revisions are included?
Mastering includes 1 revision, Mix + Master 2, album projects unlimited. Revisions are part of the process, not the exception.
What formats do you deliver?
WAV + MP3 as standard. DDP and vinyl authoring for full songs and albums. Sync-ready and broadcast-ready files on request.
How long does it take?
As a guide, about 2 working days to master a track and around 5 working days to mix one, depending on the project and the queue. We’ll confirm a timeline with your quote.
Can you master only, without mixing?
Yes: mastering is available as a standalone service from €50 per track.
Do you work in any genre?
We work across rock, metal, prog, jazz, classical and pop: over twenty years and 1,000+ credits across all of them.
MUSIC &
SOUND FOR
PICTURE
Do you compose original music for commercials?
Yes. Original music, jingles and sound logos for advertising, written for the brief and cut to the edit. We work directly with brands and with advertising agencies. Music & sound for picture.
What do you do in audio post-production?
Dialogue editing, sound design, dubbing mix and restoration of archive recordings, delivered to broadcast loudness standards (EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770).
Do you have ready-made music we can license?
Yes: our production music library, over 200 tracks for film, TV, advertising and online video, is on Pond5. If you need something made to measure, ask us.
Can you record sound on set?
Yes: production sound on film and video shoots, then audio post in the studio, so the same team follows the sound from the set to the final mix.
